ORPHAN SPONSORSHIP

  • P2P’s Orphan Sponsorship Program (OSP) for Orphans and vulnerable children in Ethiopia provides all basic necessities of life, including shelter, food, clothing, education, and health care for the orphans in the program.

  • The program has been in place since the founding of P2P and it is delivered in Ethiopia through a well-managed partnership with two reputable local NGOs – Hiwot Integrated Development Organization (HIDO) and Holistic Opportunity for Humanity (HOH).

  • Over the past 25 years, the program has benefited several hundred orphans, many of whom have successfully completed their education and have become productive citizens. Over two thousand children and families have also benefited from our supplemental programs.

  • There are currently 350 orphans being supported by the OSP program, with plans to steadily add more. According to to the 2024 World Population Review and UNICEF, there are a staggering 4 million plus orphans and vulnerable children in Ethiopia, as a result of perpetual conflict, poverty, disease and other causes. Most of these children are left to fend for themselves or live in crowded shelters with little to no resources. With help from our sponsors and supporters, we will continue to strive to give hope to as many of these children as our resources can reach.

  • The sponsorship program has consistently maintained a zero-overhead model. P2P engages in separate fundraising activities to cover program administration costs.

  • Of the 350 children who are currently in the program, 290 are supported by 191 sponsors while P2P directly supports the remaining 10 children until we find sponsors for them. We have also made important progress in digitizing the OSP program administration. This has improved data accessibility, efficiency, reporting and communication flow.
